Dr. Rech graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania in 1979. She went to medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Temple University Hospital, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1988. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed her most recent recertification in 2019. She is a fellow in the American College of OB/GYN. She is a member of the American Medical Society and the Medical Society of New York. She has been listed in the Who's Who of American Women.
Dr. Rech joined Associates in OB/GYN, P.C. in 1988 and has been the senior partner in the practice since 2001. She has served as chief of the OB/GYN department at CVPH and on the CVPHMC Board of Directors. She focuses on gynecology problems including abnormal bleeding, menopause management, contraception, and has a special interest in operative laparoscopy. She has had advanced training and now operates with the DaVinci Robot at CVPH Medical Center. She also performs surgery for incontinence and pelvic prolapse. Dr. Rech, whose hobbies include gardening, biking, skiing and singing, is married to Dr. Marc Sarnow. They have 3 children, Kyle, Nathaniel and Lily.
Mackenzie joined Associates in OBGYN in June 2019. She earned her Master’s in Physician Assisting from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2018. While attending she completed a supervised clinical rotation in OBGYN and gynecology-oncology at UVM Medical Center. She has experience as a primary care physician assistant and specialized in the management of diabetic patients.
Mackenzie completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont in Nutrition & Food Science in 2011. While completing her undergraduate degree she worked as a licensed nursing assistant specializing in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. She was a lead-clinical-researcher in the emergency department at Fletcher Allen Health Care, tutored nursing and nutrition students in biochemistry and volunteered at Planned Parenthood and Vermont Children’s Hospital. After graduating she taught chemistry at a private high school for 4 years. She also worked as a nutritionist for adolescent athletes and visited older clients in their homes to facilitate lifestyle changes for better health and weight loss.
With her experience as a physician assistant, nutritionist and teacher she is able to utilize a holistic approach. To establish a proactive healing relationship she helps her patients identify their strengths, which motivates them to take initiative in their own health.
Mackenzie is a native Vermonter who likes skiing, biking and sailing. She lives with her partner Jeff, who plants and designs gardens and their dog Boss. Jeff shares Mackenzie’s love for food; they often host themed potlucks and enjoy traveling to nearby cities to try new restaurants.
